L’Arrivée de l’Été
In 2024, summer arrived with a kind of abrupt certainty, as if it had leapt over the gentle prelude of warm spring days. One moment the air still carried the cool winds of late spring; the next, it was weighted with full summer heat. The change came quickly, and with it a subtle urgency as though that golden span where hope for the future and freedom from daily concerns briefly meet had already slipped by.
I created these images in the place and with the subject I feel most deeply connected to. A deliberate return to a mood I had been missing. I was drawn to the beauty and the haze, to that quiet detachment from reality that summer offers. For a few days, I stepped into a world shaped equally by the human form and the landscape, each amplifying the other’s presence.
Rather than waiting for the light and atmosphere to arrive on their own, I shaped them. Building the haze, summoning the warmth, and letting the scene carry the feeling I wanted to inhabit again.
